- Chris Lynn hit 491 runs for KKR in 16 matches in IPL 2018
- Lynn had played only 7 matches for KKR in 2017 because he had dislocated a shoulder
- In 28 IPL matches so far, Chris Lynn has scored 875 runs at a strike rate of 141.12
Destructive opener Chris Lynn said he was ready to fire for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League 2019 and added he had high expectations of himself in the new season.
One of the most feared opening batsmen in the T20 format, Lynn hit 491 runs for KKR in 16 matches in IPL 2018 after the franchise used the Right to Match option and spent Rs 9.60 crore to retain the Australian.
Chris Lynn had played only 7 matches for KKR in 2017 because he had dislocated a shoulder. Days before the start of the IPL last year, he damaged his shoulder again during a match for Australia. But he recovered soon and came out all guns blazing for KKR in the Indian Premier League.
This year, Chris Lynn will be expected to play a crucial role again as KKR seek a third IPL title. As a dangerous top-order batsman in the shortest format of the game, the onus is always on Lynn to power his team to strong starts. And more often that not, he has delivered.
In 28 IPL matches so far, Chris Lynn has scored 875 runs at a strike rate of 141.12.
But like always, Lynn is ready to shine.

“There’s always expectation but I’m the hardest marker of everyone. I expect high standards of myself but the body is first and foremost and that is really good at the moment.
“I have got a job to do at the top of the order for KKR. The fans certainly put you under a little bit more pressure. But that’s great, the support we get at Eden Gardens is amazing. Ready to rock and roll this year. Early momentum is important and hopefully we can go one or two better than last year,” Lynn told India Today’s Boria Majumdar.
Chris Lynn also had words of praise for the KKR owners – he said their warmth made the franchise special.
“Beauty of KKR owners.. win lose or draw they are the same person. They give the person the warmth.., Every player is going to have a good or bad day and as a player it’s so good to know – without the expectations of win, win, win,” he told India Today.
