Deepak Chahar and Rahul Chahar are cousins but their familial bond was not going to get in the way when the two faced off against each other in the IPL 2019 final between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Deepak Chahar plays for Chennai Super Kings and has enjoyed his best ever stint in an IPL season this year. He finished with 22 wickets from 17 matches for CSK in IPL 2019 and picked figures of 3 for 26 off 4 overs to rock Mumbai Indians in the title clash on Sunday.

Deepak Chahar was a little expensive to start with when Quinton de Kock hit him for 3 sixes. However, he came back strongly to pick the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and his brother Rahul.

Deepak and Rahul Chahar are key for CSK and MI respectively. While Deepak bowls pace and has done a commendable job for the Super Kings in the powerplay this year, young leg-spinner Rahul Chahar has been a revelation for Mumbai Indians.

Several brothers – Pathans, Pandyas and the McCullums – have made an impact on the Indian Premier League.

In fact in the final, 2 pairs of brothers had taken the field. While Hardik and Krunal Pandya turned up for Mumbai Indians, Deepak and Rahul Chahar, cousins, faced off against each other.

Rahul Chahar walked out to bat after the fall of Hardik Pandya’s wicket. However, he lasted only 2 balls after he hit a fullish ball to Faf du Plessis at mid-off.

Deepak and Rahul Chahar played together in Agra before moving out to puruse cricket professionallly. While Deepak has already played for India, Rahul Chahar continues to impress with every opportunity he has got with Mumbai Indians.
