MS Dhoni can do everything. He is brilliant with the bat. He is the best wicketkeeper in the world. He is a great mentor for India captain Virat Kohli and he is excellent with the Decision Review System.
Few in world cricket can use the DRS better than MS Dhoni but he made a rare mistake on Sunday against Pakistan in India’s 4th match of the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
Dhoni’s rare blunder happened in the 19th over of Pakistan’s chase of 337 when Yuzvendra Chahal appealed for an LBW against Babar Azam. Chahal bowled a flatter one that skidded off the surface to take Babar by surprise. The on-field decision was given not out on the field but Chahal urged captain Virat Kohli to go for a review.
Kohli, as he always does, consulted MS Dhoni but the senior wicketkeeper-batsman who has the best view of the proceedings wasn’t quite confident as he apparently suggested the ball had hit Babar’s bat before the pad.
Kohli eventually did not go for the review.
For the naked eye, it looked the ball had hit Babar’s bat first. However, the replays suggested the ball had hit his pad first. The ball-tracker then showed the Chahal’s delivery could have hit the off-stump, triggering a wave of reactions on social media.

The fact that Dhoni couldn’t read the possible leg before wicket of Babar Azam right goes to show that in spite of his being the genius that he is, he can make mistakes.#IndiaVsPakistan #INDvPAK #CWC19 #PAKvIND

Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman batted well and stitched a dangerous stand of 104 runs but Chahal’s wrist-spin partner Kuldeep Yadav rocked the Pakistan innings by removing the two set batsmen in quick succession. Babar was dismissed for 48 as Kuldeep deceived the Pakistan batsman with drift, flight and turn. Fakhar perished for 62 while trying to sweep Kuldeep.
Hardik Pandya then removed Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik in quick succession to leave Pakistan reeling in their chase. Also Watch:
