Civilian hurt by mortar splinter in Pak shelling along LoC | India News

JAMMU: One civilian was injured on Sunday in a ceasefire violation by the Pakistani Army along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. Shelling was also reported along the LoC in Poonch district for the fourth consecutive day.
Police sources said Mohammad Mahroof of Challas village in Keri Sector was injured by the splinter of a mortar shell that exploded near him on Sunday. He was rushed to the district hospital in Rajouri, they added.
Separately, Pakistani army shelled the forward areas of Shahpur-Kerni sectors in Poonch district for the fourth consecutive day. “Pakistani troops on Sunday around 1100 hours fired unprovoked and violated the ceasefire in Krishna Ghati Sector of Poonch and Keri Sector of Rajouri,” defence spokesman Lt Col Devender Anand said.
The ceasefire violations by Pakistan along LoC in Rajouri and Poonch comes a day after former Jammu & Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti urged the Centre to announce ceasefire in the Valley in the holy month of Ramazan.
